EriqX[.com] is simply the personal home page of Eriq Tews. You may have guessed that. EriqX is a number of things to me. It is a medium for me to dispense my random thoughts, ideas, and daily journeys. It is a project for me to spend my otherwise wasted time on. It is more or less a stereotypical webpage, evoking my fond memories of the web consisting of nothing more than random oddities, before the dot-com's and corporations settled in.
IS THERE A POINT?
Not really. If anything, EriqX just keeps me motivated. It's something for me to do, to stay involved in. It also pushes me to keep up with my projects and other extracurricular activities. Hopefully keeping the site updated and interesting as well.
I'M NEW, DID I MISS ANYTHING?
Not bloody likely. This site as you see it now is currently in it's prototype form, which I simply refer to as Revision I. Although it has indeed been revised many times, it has yet to progress beyond it's initial programming. Details on the site's technical history can be found here.
Also, previous entries to the site are all archived in their respective sections. Including pictures on the front page, which can be accessed simply by clicking on the front page image itself.
BUY ME A COFFEE?
I do accept donations on behalf of EriqX and dark playground. Obviously I do this for my own enjoyment, and not for financial gain. But nevertheless, donations help fund the caffeinated products that give me the energy to code these pages night after night. If you like what you see here, any form of support is appreciated. You may also consider donating Wanted Items, or shopping the Agora.
GETTING AROUND
NAVIGATION
Navigating EriqX is very straight forward. Starting from the main page, you can access the main menu located at the left side of the page. This menu takes you to all of the different sections on EriqX. The main menu appears on all pages in all sections, so you can jump between sections no matter where you are.
At the top of each page, you will find the top menu, which you must already be aware of since you are reading this. Just as the main menu is, the top menu is available from all pages on the site.
EriqTews[.com] goes online unofficially. It is more of an experiment in hosting a website from my own computer. My iMac is officially a webserver. The site is essentially the front page and a general framework for what I would like it to become. A few basic elements are added over the following weeks.
[07-AUG-2002]
My house is broken into. A number of items, including my iMac are taken. Essentially, the site itself was physically stolen. ET[.c] no longer exists, and further work on dark playground is terminated.
[05-DEC-2002]
EriqTews[.com] goes online again. The site is resurrected from an html template file attatched to an email still floating in my inbox. I basically emailed myself the seed from which the original ET[.c] grew. There is little content, but it's a good start for the second time around. This time, its home is on my new Mac G4.
[15-FEB-2003]
EriqTews[.com] becomes ECJT[.com]. The URL www.eriqtews.com will still bring you here. The change is simply because I felt like taking advantage of a shorter URL, and I didn't feel like attatching my name to the site in such an obvious way. The letters ECJT are my initials, so everything still makes perfect sense.
[04-AUG-2003]
ECJT[.com] is back online after a 6 day long hiatus. During those 6 days, I removed the hard drive containing this site with hopes of transplanting it into my new PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25. The new G4 had Logicboard issues and ended up at Apple for repair. Since I had already sold the previous Dual 867, the site was without a home for that time.
[18-JAN-2004]
ECJT[.com] becomes EriqX[.com]. The change was a result of no one being able to remember the letters ECJT in the proper order. I promise this will be the last change.
[25-APR-2004]
EriqX[.com] is officially being served from the Dragonfly server. Getting Dragonfly running was a project over a year in the making.
[07-MAY-2004]
EriqX[.com] manages to get me fired from my job. I was essentially dooced. Don't worry, I was reinstated shortly after clarifying some misconceptions with the powers that be. Regardless, this marks the first incident that the site has had major effect on my non-web life.
[05-NOV-2004]
EriqX[.com] launches the Agora through CafePress. Thus officially becoming a functional retail site in addition to its slew of personal site oddities.
