SOS - Save Our Saad
Dear Friends-
I don't know how many of you have spoken to me in the
last couple of
weeks.
I am in a dangerous situation because I might be sent
back to Pakistan;
however, homosexuality is against the law and strongly
against societal
norms in Pakistan. Because of my gay activism history,
I am easily
identifiable as gay and my physical safety will surely
be in danger if
I
return.
In order to avoid this, I am applying for asylum to
stay here in the
U.S.
However, the legal fees are high and a couple of my
friends have
organized a
fundraiser to help me. [Below] is a flyer with the
details of the
event.
There is a suggested donation so people can pay
whatever they can afford. There will be seating for
over 800 people so
please bring as many friends as you can - those that
might be
interested in
the cause of helping an LGBT person stay safe here in
the U.S. and
others
who might be interested in seeing a preview version of
the Vagina
Monologues. It is a great show and has been sold out
for the last three
years so this is a great opportunity to beat the
crowds and see it
early.
Thanks to all the wonderful people who have helped in
making this
fundraiser
happen - the actresses that have generously agreed to
open up their
show for
the fundraiser, the people who have donated items of
whatever they can
offer
for the silent auction, and of course to those who
will be attending
and
bringing friends and family.

What: A Silent Auction to raise $10K to pay the legal
fees to keep our
friend and local LGBT
(Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender) activist in the
U.S.
The US government is targeting Saad for removal
because he is Muslim.
If he returns to Pakistan he could be imprisoned or
executed because in
Pakistan being LGBT is illegal.
