XFORA Members say Goodbye

Good-byes are so... cliche. We live in the age of instant information and sattelite communications. As such I mourn not the loss of people, but merely the location. There will be another incarnation in some form I'm sure, as it was plainly evident how stubborn... err, tenacious... some individuals were, and how much they enjoyed XFORA.

Forgive my lack of sophistication with this message. It's not even up to my usual standards. However, I feel that this is merely a "layover" and not a permanent farewell. If anyone wants to reach me, Eriq has my massive amount of contact info, and I'm always up for a chat.

I'm trying to look at the demise of XFORA in a positive way. Since I won't be able to communicate with my friends through this medium anymore, it will encourage me to see them more in person. As for the people I didn't want to meet? I never have to see or hear from them again if I so choose.

XFORA will be greatly missed. Although I refrained from posting for the second time towards the end, I found it enjoyable to read the posts from everyone in order to see how they are doing.

It is my belief that something bigger and better will rise from the ashes of XFORA. These people don't let moss grow under their feet.

In my goodbye's, I'd like to reiterate my opinion that closing down a forum such as this is just plain silly, just because some people turn volatile momentarily. If one thinks about how many times even the best of friends on this forum have been unhappy with each other, yet still remain friends, this becomes more immediately apparent. But, I digress. I'll miss the forum, but it wasn't mine to run, or work on, or control, and so my opinion remains, respectfully mine, or something like that. Some of you know my contact information, some of you don't. If you do, feel free to contact me. If not, I'll see you 'round.

I like to think of a forum as a place where people from all walks of life can cross paths. Bringing into each others worlds their own original ideas and thoughts. Exposing literally everyone to something new. A place where societal and culteral differences don't seem to exist or matter, because only peoples thoughts and ideas are up for debate. Perhaps I am too dramatic, but toward the end of XFORA's short life, I began to see more and more interesting topics. I got to communicate with people I would never have known if it wasn't for XFORA. I loved that. It was worth every moment to me. It will be missed.

I very sincerely hope to keep in touch with all of you. My contact information can be found by clicking on the "About Eriq" menu on the upper left of this page. I will also be glad to give out other members contact info, if I receive permission to do so from those members. Thank you all for being a part of something truely wonderful. Perhaps we will all meet again someday... online or off.

XFORA was a wonderful thing. I understand that some of you may be angry that XFORA is gone, trust me when I say, I too miss it. I also know that most of you now think I am some sort of horrible person. I would like to make one thing clear. Those of you that know me, I mean really know me, know that I am not a bad person at all, in fact quite the opposite. Ask E, Xeo, Dan, Sabbac, Zanthia, mermeg, Et3, jill, etc. I sincerely apologize for my actions at the end of XFORAs life, especially toward Carrie. Please do not hold those actions against me forever. I do not want the opinion that everything that I touch on the web will become a bad place, that is just not true. I promise you that the future is a bright place.

I only posted like four times on XFORA, but I still feel the need to say goodbye. I feel that people had fun and enjoyed themselves, even in the moments of heated debate, there was still a sense of community. It seems kinda hard these days to feel comfortable enough to state your opinions. With XFORA, I don't think anyone thought twice about being open. Thats nice.

I'd like to say Goodbye and thank everyone on XFORA. I had alot of fun while it lasted, and i apologize to everyone i may have offended. It's too bad things ended up the way they did, hopefully a new "XFORA" or somthing like it, will come along soon, so we can all start over and forget this ever got out of hand.

I'm not quite sure what I could say, really, besides I'm quite sorry to see it go. I realize I wasn't a regular poster in any sense of the word, and that I also was only present for the last month or so of the forum's existence. It was pretty fun while it lasted, though, and I enjoyed the reminiscences of Greendale that would pop up now and again. If there is ever another incarnation of the same idea, let me know, I'd be interested in seeing it.

I keep going over to my links, looking for the forum, eager to find out what is happening, who's posted...
That right there shows that regardless of the problems, it was a worthwhile thing. Even though there were arguments, people kept coming because they wanted to be a part of the community it built. That's what forums are for. Despite being declared a failure, I think XFORA succeeded. I am thankful to mcsoko for creating it and to KH4M3L3ON for moderating. I hope everyone who came to XFORA stays in touch via email or whatever other method suits you.
