In June I broke ground on the patio project. 5 months later, it's done. Not much time left this year to enjoy it, but it will be nice when spring comes around. I'm going to build planters and a trellis next year to finish off the complete project.

Workout Room Expanded
Notes:
About 2 weeks ago Mike came over and helped me tear out the closet/cubby/shanty thing that was built in the corner of the basement. We cleared out the extra space, layed down some new carpeting and spread out the workout equipment. The new workout room isn't finished yet, but its considerably larger and more useful than it was before.

New Windows Installed
Notes from today:
Through a bit of luck, I met a nice guy through Melissa's dad who does windows. Not only that, but he does a damn good job, and got me a deal so good I'm still amazed thinking back on it. All the windows in the house are now secure, properly insulated, and can actually open and close without too much hassle. They also look nice and modern. Between these and the recent door project, the house is slowly but surely becoming beautifully updated.

Garage Mural Project Begins
Notes from today:
I offered Ian complete artistic control over the south-facing outer wall of my garage. He came up with a concept for a mural, and I hooked him up with a model to get things started. [Details on this project will be updated upon completion]

New Doors Installed
Notes from today:
Mike and I took a stab at a slightly more major project today, with good results. The old doors that the house came with were in a word, crappy. The rear had no deadbolt and the front had a plastic window. Both were worn and aged and not attractive. Between the new doors, the new front screen door, and the new hardware for the handles and locks, this addition has become a major improvement to the house.

New Appliances Delivered
Notes from today:
This is certainly not a major project. But updating the fridge and range have made a big impact on how the kitchen looks overall. The dishwasher was also delivered, but won't be installed until next week. I have some big plans for the kitchen, and this is a small start.

Installed Lower Trim in Dining Room
Notes from today:
Today Mike and I finished up the final touch on the dining room floor project. I picked up some new lower trim, Mike helped me paint it white to match the existing trim around the doors and the rest of the house, and we installed it with a borrowed nail gun. Let me just go on record and say that if you happen to come across a nail gun, enjoy.

Installed Wood Floors in Dining Room
Notes from today:
Mike came over and helped me install some new pergo flooring. I am extremely happy with the results. Partly because it was an easy install and it looks great. Partly because the previous flooring (which had been beneath the carpet I removed when moving in) was so hideous, that the difference between before and after is simply incredible.
